The Sockeye Salmon battle up the both the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. 12 Km of Adams River will be the destination of millions of the returning sockeye salmon as well as other salmon species. With 65 hectares of stream bed Adams River rates amongst the richest natural spawning streams in North America. Salmon return to the Adams River every year but every 4 years there is a dominant run in which the largest amount of salmon return dwarfing the smaller years which bring approximlately 3-5 million.

2014 is a dominant year and millions of Salmon are expected to return to Adams River to Spawn.  The last dominant year was 2010 which brought a staggering 35 millon salmon returning up the Fraser River.  The Salute to the Sockeye runs the first 3 weeks of October 2014.

A private or group tour of Roderick Haig-Brown Park may be available where
you can see the salmon up close, the tour is provided by the Noble Adventures.
